Love and Leadership.

Is that the first time you heard someone connecting the word love and leadership? Have you ever thought about Love in the context of Leadership? Here is what I believe: Leadership is Love. It certainly can be love and it should be love.

At the essence leadership is about human connection, truly seeing the other person and wanting them to flourish. And being committed to support this other person. How is that NOT love?

You might think, but what about business success? What about developing a strategy and implementing it? What about skills and deliverables?

Those are all by-products of applied love in leadership. Think about your work and what drives you, gets you excited and makes you productive. Think about a time when you had your best moments at work .

When you were in a state of flow and you lost track of time and were fully engaged in the task at hand. Being ‘in the flow’ is a wonderful experience with energised focus, heightened concentration, and a merging of action and awareness.

 Flow doesn’t occur when:

  • We are worried about perception

  • We don't believe in what we are doing

  • W are being told exactly how to do every step

  • We fear criticism

  • We are stressed out

  • The goal is unclear

  • We don’t have the right skill set

Everything that stands in the way of flow (and therewith high performance and productivity) can be mitigated and eliminated by your leader. And that should be their main job:  Allowing you to find flow and the joy and fulfilment that comes with it.

That is love in action.

My vision is to transform our workplaces into places where everyone can grow, learn and flourish. Where we can experience flow and the fulfilment that comes with it. By creating safe spaces and focussing on the individuals business success will follow.

Are you loving while leading? And do you feel the love of you manager?
